A gigantic tree symbolizes the highly affectionate conversation distilled between Datan Village and Chang Jung University across time and space. The theme of this series, Endless Cycles of Life, is constituted ”by the work Evergreen, which uses the gigantic tree to symbolize Chang Jung University”, and “by the work Datan, interpreted as a vast lake, which uses shadows of trees to symbolize Datan Village”. Combining the following two concepts that “ancestors planted the trees to provide shade and protection for future generations” and “it takes ten years to grow a tree, while a sound education program may require a century to mature”, enables cross-dialects among various aspects of local history, eras, geography, and humanity to express the symbiotic relationship between Datan Village and Chang Jung University.

Datan Village was named after the vast lake once located at the western side in its earlier history and the lush vegetation at the lakeside. Past memories and modern transformations of Datan Village are integrated into this public art installation, which strives for the implementation of sustainable educational ideology, and leaves a print of its glorious developmental history upon which it brightly reflects.
